EXPERIENCE

Senior Unix Administrator
UnitedHealth Group Trumbull, CT - 6/2005 TO Present
Senior systems administrator for over 200 IBM, Sun, Hewlett-Packard and Linux servers, workstations, and other devices. Follows predefined procedures and has developed his own, all HIPPA and SOX compliant. Responsible for all system administration activities, includes some supervisory roles.

Helped migrate UnitedHelath Group from the mainframes that hosted more than 250 of the company's most critical business applications, processing millions of transactions a day, and providing 46 terabytes of storage. Bringing the mainframe operations in house has helped save UnitedHealth approximately $247 million over five years. Was an integral part of this effort.

Has recently developed and deployed a set of tools to automatically connect to AIX frames and pull relevant information, statistics, addresses and serial numbers. This data is then fed into ticketing and scripting tools, substantially automating the build process for new logical partitions and virtual servers. These tools, developed on his own time and of his own initiative, have been adopted as a standard by UnitedHealth, and are in widespread use.
