Electricity is lazy. It takes the path of least resistance, avoiding all obstacles, and rushes headlong towards the earth. It's work is done in little hindrances: imprisoned for a while by a capacitor- Suddenly released! Only to be restrained by a resistor. The work of electricity is done in the obstacles it would avoid- it only suffers them because it must return to the ground. It is obstacles and imprisonments that scatter the blackness of night and make our radios sing. It is trials which constantly shatter our own blindness; it is obstacles which, if anything, make us useful at all.
