Okay, I guess it's time for me to confess something. You may have thought I was a pretty well-behaved person. I would allow you to continue operating under that delusion (if you ever did :-) but the time has come for me to pay up. Literally, pay. I had a letter, addressed to my business, New Haven Computer Company, waiting I got home this past Thursday night. It was from the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services. We all know what that means, and it does NOT mean "service". I really, honestly, did not know that I owed any back taxes. As it turns out, however, they had written to inform me that I have been a tax delinquent since... 1993! They informed me (on April 4) that I have to pay the entire amount by April 30, 1996 or they will take the following steps (capitalization theirs): They will execute a tax warrent as authorized under State Statute 12-162. They will file a violation of code form against me with the Secretary of State (I presume they mean the *State* Secretary of State). They will execute a lein against the company property for the amount owed, plus all collection and recovery costs. They reserve the right to confiscate any personal property they determine to have been used in the operation of New Haven Computer Company. Any and all licenses issued by the city to operate a business enterprise will be WITHHELD or REVOKED, and They will publish the names of delinquent taxpayers in the New Haven Register.
